Transition
Transition was the overarching theme of the York/Sheridan Design Program's exhibition of student work in the Winter of 2018. The initial concept for print communications involved splicing serif and sans-serif type, but evolved into rhythmic transitions as the project progressed. Printing, scanning, moving the paper, overlapping, and vectorizing the scans helped achieve the desired level of distortion. The resulting wordmark, large-scale decals, and prints are simplified and legible, but maintain a distorted rhythm.

A short looping motion graphic accompanies the printed graphics on the design department’s video wall. This part of the larger design builds upon the wordmark, using physical methods of distortion (here, shooting video through plastic and glass) and digital software for editing and cutting the final video.
